Hello everyone. I am Patrick Lynch, and I am proud to be your SHRM-Atlanta President for 2021. I look forward to serving our members, sponsors, and the greater Atlanta HR community in my new role.

I checked the SHRM-Atlanta history books, and it turns out that I am going to be the 50th President of our chapter. There has been a lot of great leaders who have preceded me in this role. I hope to be able to fill their shoes.

My mission for 2021 is to the voice for our members. I want to deliver value to each of you who have chosen to be a member of our chapter – whether it is listening to great content at our chapter meetings or SOAHR, certification opportunities, or finding answers to your pressing HR questions. I want to make your membership something that you can all brag about.

As many of you know, we built SHRM-Atlanta on four strategic pillars:

  • Fostering Community
  • Promoting Professional Development
  • Celebrating Excellence in HR
  • Advancing Thought Leadership

My goal is to frequently talk about these four pillars with all of you next year. Today I would like to focus on the secret sauce that makes SHRM-Atlanta such a great chapter – Fostering Community.

  • Being a member of our chapter is an opportunity to be part of something bigger.
  • It is your chance to network and build relationships with your HR colleagues.
  • It is where you can learn and grow from the subject matter expertise of your fellow members.
  • It is where you can grow your relationships by serving as a volunteer.

Even though COVID has forced us into a virtual world of Zoom meetings, I still believe that relationships can flourish. We all have examples of how this happened throughout 2020. I would love to hear any stories that you would like to share.

We are also not going to be virtual forever. I am confident that sometime in 2021, we will safely be able to return to face-to-face meetings.

Speaking of Fostering Community, I would like to warmly welcome our thirty-six new members to our growing SHRM-Atlanta community. While we will not have the opportunity to meet these new members at an upcoming chapter meeting, I hope everyone will congratulate them on joining us (or connect with them on LinkedIn).

Here is a list of all the new members who have joined us in the past thirty days.

Thanks again to all of our new members.

I want to wrap up with a couple of important topics.

We have several great volunteer opportunities for those who have a heart to serve and an interest in building stronger relationships within the chapter.
